Group Leader

YES Yoga Summer Program

Shambhala Yoga & Dance Center seeks a well-rounded, outgoing, friendly individual who has a passion for working with elementary school students to apply for our Group Leader position this summer. As a Group Leader in our summer camp, you have the closest relationship with the participants and will not only be an influential role model but also directly impact the children’s overall experience. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • The position will begin July 7th with an orientation prior to the start date. 

  • Lead activities

  • Administer snack and facilitate transitions. 

  • Implement YES Yoga program curriculum, helping school age children to improve emotional intelligence, autonomy and collaboration. 

  • Model the principles of YES by encouraging mindful speech, a positive attitude and overall wellbeing. 

The ideal candidate is eager to lead accessible, interactive, and enriching activities integrating mindfulness and emotional intelligence in every lesson. Candidates should be comfortable leading lessons and group activities with students in Pre-K through 5th grade. 

Shambhala Yoga & Dance Center is an equitable and accessible wellness space. It has been a part of the Prospect Heights, Brooklyn community for over 20 years. YES Yoga passes on the wisdom of nearly 5,000 year old yogic traditions and teaching in contemporary living.The program was developed to ensure that yoga philosophy is accessible to the community we serve through Teacher Trainings program, school partnerships and youth programming. 


The YES Yoga Afterschool was established as the key youth program at Shambhala to serve high quality and innovative arts programming, rooted in mindfulness, emotional intelligence and yogic philosophy. 

Qualifications:

● Experience working with elementary age group children

● High school degree or equivalent

● A spirit of collaboration and positive attitude in teamwork

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills; positive, patient and reliable

● Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing classroom circumstances

Job Type: Hourly/Contractor, July 8 - August 29, 2025

Rate: $25 p/hour

Schedule: Flexible 6-hour shifts available between 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.
