POSTURE LAB: CHATURANGA DANDASANA

How many times have you heard the pose chaturanga dandasana in your favorite vinyasa class? When practiced correctly, chaturanga engages the legs, core, back, arms, and shoulders, and builds strength for more difficult asanas such as bakasana aka crow pose, Eka Pada Koundinyasana and handstand. However, When done improperly (and over and over again!), it can wreak havoc on the shoulder joints, one of the most mobile and complex areas of the body.

In this workshop we will break down "the vinyasa," the movements leading into chaturanga dandasana and coming out of it. You will learn about the mechanics of the pose, healthy shoulder girdle alignment, and modifications for all strength levels. Most importantly, you will begin to cultivate a vinyasa practice that is kind to your body, and will serve you for years to come.

The components of water and earth create a cold, damp, and heavy environment-- qualities that affect our bodies and minds, and can make us more prone to illness, lethargy, and depression.

Using ancient yet accessible yoga techniques, we will shift our experience to be one of joy, well being and contentment-all of which are a part of our true nature.

REIKI LEVEL 1 TRAINING

Reiki is a healing and spiritual practice that originated in Japan early in the last century, by Dr. Mikao Usui. Through the study and practice of reiki you will gain a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you.

In reiki level one you receive your first attunement (reiju) and will have the ability to facilitate a reiki session for yourself, friends and family.
